Laura Kaeppeler Wins Miss America 2012



LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Laura Kaeppeler Miss Wisconsin (photos below) is the Miss America 2012 winner. Laura Kaeppeler Miss Wisconsin won the Miss America 2012 beauty pageant moments ago. Before being named the winner tonight, some shocking results were revealed to news and viewers. Earlier in the night, special awards were handed out, followed by the top ten finalists. In Preliminary Awards, Lifestyle & Fitness awards were picked up by Miss Utah Danica Olsen, Miss Texas Kendall Morris, and Miss New York Kaitlin Monte. Preliminary Talent honors were also bestowed on Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler, Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson, and Miss Hawaii Lauren Cheape.

Tonight’s 2012 Miss America Pageant was aired live on ABC. The contestants first appeared on stage in a “flash mob tour of Las Vegas”, officials confirmed to news. The first semi finalist announced to news tonight was the America’s Choice Finalist, Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson.

The telecast featured judges Mark Ballas, Raúl De Molina, Mike Fleiss, Kris Jenner, Teri Polo, Chris Powell, and Lara Spencer. After an introduction of the judges, Miss America confirmed to news the remaining top fifteen semi-finalists. Among them were Miss California, Noelle Freeman.

Miss America announced to news a twist in this year’s pageant. “The non-finalist contestants get to choose one more contestant to continue on to the evening wear competition.” That pick tonight was Miss Alabama Courtney Porter.

Approaching the one hour mark of the telecast, ABC confirmed to news the top ten finalist would compete in the talent portion. First, Miss Arizona Jennifer Sedler delivered a dance of About to Walk. Then, Miss Illinois Hannah Smith danced ballet en pointe. Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson performed an Irish step dance while Miss Texas Kendall Morris played the New World Symphony on the piano.


Then making news was Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler singing Il Bacio. Laura reached the top finals along with Miss New York Kaitlin Monte singing Disneyland. Miss Louisiana Hope Anderson delivered contemporary dance en pointe to Sway in the finals as well.


Also reaching the finals were Tennessee’s Erin Hatley singing Memory from Cats, Miss Iowa Jessica pray singing You Raise Me Up, and Miss California Noelle Freeman dancing ballet en pointe to Black Swan.

From there, Miss America confirmed to news the top five finalists. Announced were Miss Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Arizona, New York, and California. The final five competitors in evening wear battled the interview section of the competition. But winning tonight is Laura Kaeppeler  Miss Wisconsin.
